Giselle Selim —

Having picked up her first oil paint brush at the age of 12, painting can be considered Giselle's first true love.

After graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Giselle has gone on to exhibit at local galleries, cafes and festivals around Toronto.  With one arm always designated to the Toronto Film Industry, the other has always held a paint brush.

“Something happens when I start to paint.  It’s like the brain switches to its Alpha State, and I fall deep into meditation. Those who meditate regularly know what I am talking about.  Creating art feeds the soul in a way that few are lucky enough

to experience.  Creation starts as a like and quickly turns into a must.  Because I paint, I feel a responsibility to share that feeling with the world through that medium.  So I do.”

Through the last 15 years, Giselle’s primary focus has been hypo-realism: oil paintings inspired by photographs that depict a time, place, or moment that she feels speak to people quite viscerally.  Regardless of the subject matter, it is the humanity of these moments that thread a connection throughout all corners of the world and brings people back to their hearts.
